China Education

Education in China is mainly a state-run system of public education run by the Ministry of Education. All citizens must attend school for at least nine years, known as the nine-year compulsory education, which the government funds. It includes six years of primary education, starting at age seven, and three years of junior secondary education (Chu Zhong-middle school) for ages 12 to 15.After junior secondary education, the students can choose to take Senior High School Entrance Examination (Zhong Kao), which will eventually lead to university, or to switch to a vocational course in vocational high schools. Both are not compulsory education. Senior secondary education often refers to three years high school (or called Gao Zhong-senior middle school) education, as from grade 10 to grade 12, which is quite popular to most of the families in China.
